I was happy to find out that they were making character customization a bit more deep I really would like to see every merc with his own flare and originality. I thought it would be good to offer up some ideas that would take character customization a bit farther then what CCP probably already has planed for the Uprising update. I also think immersion is a big key to role playing I wish CCP would have already allowed us to walk in stations (the door). I think that role play and immersion is just what some players in EVE and Dust really want and need to get away from those big space battles.
Posture
In real life everyone has their own posterior this can be instilled from birth like sit up straight head high and eyes forward. I thought it would be cool to allow players to choose their own personal posture so you could have the head high players who walk with their arms crossed behind their back, or the sluncher low lives for pirates/mercenaries who will take any job. You could also have the normal posture we have now if you don't wanna be a snob or low life. I just thought this idea was cool because it still offered the norm but allowed for more of a role playing game and I know some people love role playing in EVE/Dust.
Play-Style
The four play styles are cool there is one for heavy, scout, assault, and logistic I don't agree with all the starting skills but don't see any real reason to change them. I do however believe they should add a tank class or vehicle class for the players who want to become tank pilots or operate vehicles this would start them with something like vehicle command level 1, turret operation level 1, turret upgrade level 1, and piloting level 1. This will allow players to fit their play style better as not everyone actually wants to use a dropsuit I for one don't. 150,000 located skill points is a lot to a new player so let us put them into something we actually want them to be in ^_^.
First Person View
There really is not anything wrong with how we walk around in the merc quarters and war barge but I think it would be cool to allow us to go first person and look from inside our helmets. I like the realism it will add as we get a look at the war barge and merc quarters from inside our helmets.
Putting our bodies in the game
Ever notice your just a floating gun and hand but other players see your full body? You look down at your feat and they are not there or when climbing up a ladder you completely aren't there. CCP really needs to give us a body when we are in first person view nothing weirder then being a ghost. This really goes with the 3rd idea "First Person View" and would complement it.
Ability to customize our full body's and remove our selves from our suits?
I know the role players would love to do this we should have a character creation like the one we have in EVE. We should be allowed to dress out mercs outside of our suits and fully modify our body. They should also sell clothing for AUR and isk in Dust (more real life money to CCP and another way to make isk?). A lot of players spend times out of battles nothing would make a lot of mercs more happy then the ability to jump out of their clothes and plop down on to their couch. When the door finally does open and we have the ability to walk inside stations Dust mercs will not want to do so in their clunky dropsuit armor.
There are a lot of people who wont agree with this post because they believe in developing the fps part of Dust like quick matches and planetary control. But I believe to have a strong game you must look at all of the features of your game and improve them all equally. If we only had a strong shooter and not a popular role playing game EVE and Dust wouldn't be the same and as popular as they are now. When the door opens you are going to appeal to a lot of players who wanted the option from the beginning. So keep in mind CCP |
